There are several different types of 5x5 picture frame that might interest a reader of this blog. The first that I discovered was the Lawrence 5x5 Brushed Silver Plated Frame. This frame makes a perfect gift. It is a perfect square though gives the illusion of being slightly taller than it is long. It also includes glass to cover the 5x5 photograph and backing and hooks so you can either hang it on the wall. If you would prefer to set it on a table it also includes an easel for easy display. Its design is classic looking. The frame is made out of metal and includes elements that are silver plated as well as elements that kind of have a brushed aluminum look.
For those of you into wooden frames, Lawrence also makes a 5x5 picture frame that is made out of wood. These frames are made out of a high quality wood. They also include glass to cover the photograph as well as a glazed backing. Like the silver plated frame it also can be hung on a wall using the included hooks or it can be left on a desk using the easel. This frame would make an excellent gift because it comes preboxed so all you have to do is wrap it. I think it would also look nice displaying a wedding picture.
Amazon also carries a Essential Metal Picture Frame in a the 5x5 dimension. This is a very modern minimalistic metal frame. I think it would look great holding a black and white photograph but may also help brighter reds and blues pop out in a image. The frame is made out of metal, and while it isn't silver plated, it has a silver finish. They also advertise that the frame is engravable but it doesn't come with any kind of engraving right out of the box.
For 5x5 photos you can also fit them in much bigger frames. I have seen 10x10 frames that were specifically made for photos this small. They have a very big mat. These frames also include a hanging accessories as well as an easel to hang them on. Most also include a very nice acid free mat. I find the mat looks best in white, especially if you are going with a metal frame. Bigger frames usually use Plexiglas as opposed to glass. This allows the frame to be lighter as well as more durable.
